System Assessment

Often an outside impartial opinion is desired on an existing system, particularly if the system has been around for a while and you're not sure what to do about it. If you like, I can assess one or more of your current systems (for new projects, see IT Project Assessment). Specific areas that are included in the standard assessment are:

• How well the system is achieving its strategic and tactical objectives
  
  

• The type of technology being used for the system, and the advantages and disadvantages of using this technology, along with any recommendations for improving the technology being used
  
  

• Relative risk of the system when considering the security needs of the system's data, and when considering the exposure of the company due to system outage. This evaluation includes a high-level review of security and disaster recovery plans.
  
  

• How the system is being required to interface with other systems inside or outside the company, and how well these interfaces are being managed
  
  

• Any other recommendations for improving or replacing the system
